T. Rowe Price Capital Appreciation fund has beaten the S&P 500 index most years.

I'd go with a stock mutual fund.

Since you're not the type to do a lot of homework and monitoring of your investments then I'd go with either a stock index fund or one of those lifestyle / asset allocation type mutual funds.

We just made our own mutual fund using the America's Finest Companies list and the Dogs of the Dow - it felt so good to pick our own stocks and make our own fund.
