What mutual fund has beat the market for the last ten years? |
or at least 7 yrs Assuming you are talking about equity funds that beat the S&P-500 Dividend adjusted for the last 10 years from 4/18/97. Then here are the first fifty funds that beat VFINX's 123% gain ranked in order. Returns include dividends reinvested. VFINX falls in at # 1199 out of 2096 10-year old funds. Studies have shown that NOBODY beats the market over the long haul. So even if you found a fund that has beaten the market for ten years, that fund is probably due to under-perform the market for the next ten years. Saying that NOBODY beats the market over the long haul is incorrect. Many individuals have such as Warren Buffet and George Soros. Bill Miller of the Legg Mason Value Fund beat the market for 15 years in a row up until last year. But last year he underperformed for the first time, and misssed it by about 10%. Still - he had a good run! i guess pgcpaul's answer kinda blows the old "NOBODY can beat the market over the long haul" theory right out of the water. people that say that are usually the ones that haven't taken the time to educate themselves in the markets. also, a lot of individual traders "beat the market" on a consistent basis. |
