What's a good mutual fund for a stagnant stock market? |
An international fund maybe like Dodge & Cox? How about jsvax? I like international funds too. Check out VTRIX or OAKIX, a deep value fund. Also check out OAKBX, which invests in value stocks, mostly american but some overseas, and also US treasury bonds, the ultimate "safe" fund, it powered right through the big crash of 2000-2003. OAKBX is open if you invest directly with the mutual fund. Report It There really isn't such a thing as a stagnant market. There are bulls and bears in any market. But if there was a flat line, you want one that tracks the Dogs of the Dow. There is even an ETF that tracks them. The dividend gains (the whole point of this system) will at least give you the same yield as present bonds. If the market takes off, they will probably take off too, unlike a bond fund. Think of it as a bond fund which switch over as a stock fund as soon as the market gets hot. If you really feel that the market is stagnant, then I'd recommend 'fixed income' funds based in bonds, like municipal bond funds or high yeild bond funds (more risky). You answered your own question!! Yes, the international mkts are a great place...just for safety, get as diverse in them as you can. When I'm confident that the market is going to go one way or another, I use Direxion funds to juice my returns. The offer funds that are highly leveraged and match 200% - 250% of the index that they track. They have both regular and inverse funds and domestic and foreign. |
