Is this the time to start buying mutual fund muni's?

I like the Oppenheimer Rocherster Fund..any comments?

It is hard to tell when the optimal time to buy muni's is. The yields on muni's are quite high when compared to treasury bonds, and this is probably a good time to invest, but I can't say that with certainty. Fees should be low for muni bond funds, Vanguard has some of the lowest fees.

I would recommend investing part of your money conservatively in muni funds, and part aggressively in stock funds. Funds in tax deferred retirement accounts should not be in muni's.

Its never a good time to buy muni mutual funds. Always buy equity mutual funds.

I must agree. If you are going to buy munis, then just buy munis. As far as equities (stocks) go, this is bargain time. The part of dollar cost averaging where your investment dollar buys you more shares because the market is low. Just make sure that any mutual fund that you buy is NO load, either front or back end loaded. And be sure to check the fees, there are plenty of no load, low fee funds out there.
