Need to sell mutual fund? |
I need to sell some of my fund off to pay for some bills, should I wait till the new year or do it now? If the fund will give you capital gains I would wait until nexy year to delay the tax hit. On the other hand if the fund has lost value I would sell this your and tax harvest. Its up to you. Ask a broker its their job, they will tell you your very best options. I would wait till next year. Only if you've owned for a year or so, because if not, you'll get hit with current income taxes. If you're not in the 10-15% tax bracket or haven't held it for a over a year, I wouldn't. I'd wait. |
