NTF Fund vs No-Load Mutual Fund?

What is the difference between say an NTF S&P500 Index Fund vs the Vangaurd 500 Index Fund?

None have loads, however the Vangaurd will have a transaction fee at a brokerage. If they are both tracking the S&P500 what difference does it make aside from the transaction fee?

NTF just means they have an agreement with the broker (is it Fidelity?) to compensate them for selling the fund. So the broker doesn't charge you. They have no such agreement with Vanguard, hence the fee.

Both are no load funds, so basically the answer to your question is you probably wouldn't buy the Vanguard 500 Index through a Fidelity account for instance--you'd just buy it at Vanguard instead. But index funds are a near commodity anyway, so just go with the S&P 500 index fund your broker offers as an NTF, unless the expense ratio is significantly higher and you're investing a large amount.
