Which Mutual Fund(s) or Closed-End Fund(s), in China, is best to own right now? |
Some Examples of Mutual Funds in China Are: I would pick the closed end funds over the open end because at the moment they are selling at extreme discounts to net assets. I believe that CAF recently was selling at a 28% discount. It did go up about 2 points today so the discount is probably less now. I am not clairvoyant so I can not tell you which is the best to own right now. I do tend to like CAF, CHN, and TDF but they all have potential. I personal favorite is CHN. I would go with AACFX and CAF. They have provided the best performance. I use morninstar.com fund and etf screeners. I add positions on dips, like now. If I were you I would have at least some diversification ie LA which has been outperforming China....DXZLX and EWZ. There are so many factors you can get hung up on, fees, load, beta, manager, etc... what's worked for me is adding positions to the best performers. As long as you follow the markets daily you will develop that confidence. I also have a 401K which limits my choices, and there I'm in FHKCX, FLATX and FSEAX which have done phenomenally well since this bull market began in 2003. I was in tech going into 2000, in 2001-2002 on sidelines, and in 2003 saw which were the bull market leaders and kept adding positions to the ones who consistently performed the best. |
