What is NAV?how it is calculated & mutual fund works?I have purchased Reliance equity MF for Rs100 for 6yrs at nav Rs.10 and current nav is Rs16 how much is my profit nav = net asset value. this is simply the total market of all the securities (hopefully all security values are quoted on a recognized exchange) in the mutual fund divided by the number of units in the mutual fund. as an example: units = slices of pie and mutual fund = total pie. you own one or more units, looks like u bought 10 units of the mutual fund at 10 per unit = 100 total. value per unit is now 16, total = 160 (10units x 16 per unit). Profit = 60% (16 divided by 10) plus any distributions (cash) you received over you holding period. nav is abbreviation of net asset value which is comptedby dividing total investments value in the scheme by the number of units. your appreciation is 60% over the purchase price. Net Asset Value is the total value of the fund's portfolio less the fund's liabilities. |
