Start up mutual fund account?


what mutual fund company has the lowest start up balance i do not have 2-3k to put in to an account i am only 24 but would like to start something can i do something with a few hundred and just add like 50 a month for the next 45yrs???

what is the link for the fund screener-- i thought i found it but it is asking for my credit card

Use Morningstar.com's fund screener to search for no-load funds with minimum initial purchases of $500 or less. There are many.

To the poster below: No-load mutual funds do NOT take 2-5% of the profit. More like 1 to 1.5% on average, and many take much less than that. How much do you think he would spend on commissions buying all those stocks in the mutual fund?

Why would you invest in a Mutual Fund. Why not just buy the stocks the mutual fund possess and save 2-5% they are taking out of profit. They over all have not produced as well as the stock market has.
