How should I go about getting more online business?

I am an AVON Independent Sales Representative. I have my own website and I have customers in my community but I don't know how to go about getting more online customers??

This is such a hard question. There are so many different things you can do. The first suggestion was a good one. But have you ever thought of search engine optimization (SEO)? I don't know how much knowledge you have about web design, but SEO could be very helpful. By using keywords and several other tools, you could draw more traffic to your site.

You're trying to get more people outside of your community. For example if you lived in Dallas, Texas, you may want to extend your reach to all of Texas. With SEO, you may be able to get your site at the top of Google search pages, when people search for example "AvbnTexas."

Simple SEO can be done on your own depending on your level of expertise, but it will take time. Here are some links to get you started if you go that route:

Other options for getting more site traffic include buying ads, which you can easily do through Google AdSense, Yahoo, and MSN. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it, but it is an option.

And lastly, there's the option that a previous poster said, you can pimp your site in as many beauty communities as possible. This has two great benefits. Firstly, all the people that are members of those communities will know about your site. Secondly, the more links you have going to your site, the higher you will rank on searches. That's actually a part of SEO.

My credentials: I'm a senior majoring in advertising. I'm currently doing an internet marketing internship with an agency. And, I'm well read. I read about 30 blogs a day on this stuff.

The best way is to join & persitapate in chat groups, froums and the like for health & beauty , fashion wherever women will look for tips and trends most will let you put your URL

Put every word that has to do with getting people to your page ON YOUR PAGE but, put them in a section that is un-used, make the text the exact same color as the back ground! You'll be found but not have a bunch of words that mean nothing alone SEEN on your page. You don't have to pay for search engines on the web...

There are plenty of "trade" out there. (you know, I'll put your link on mine if you'll put my link on yours)

Also a lot of "yellow page" web sights have FREE ads for you.

List it on Yahoo Questions under your question.....

Print your web address on your business cards and get anyone's card that you sell to (or any relationship (business, friends, friends of friends)...Usually they'll have their email on the card too, then send a monthly AVON email letting them know about ALL your specials for the month and add "if you'd rather not receive this...email back with subject "REMOVE" (simple!)", Have interesting make-up history or good graphics that "grab" the women you sell to/want to sell to. (or guys too, I guess?)

Put a nice looking flier up at: The laundry mat, the local library, the local gym including your web sight address, etc.

CALL businesses like local Gyms, YMCAs that have web pages or email them (calling is more business like-not considered SPAM) and ASK if you can "trade links".

Put a special section on YOUR page like "Add this link to YOUR page"...you'd be surprised!

Start other free web pages (geocities, aolhometown, etc.) and put your link to your Avon page there!!! Yeah! (I did that for someone-worked well! Have to "grab" attention though!)

Get some automobile window lettering of...can you guess? YOUR WEB PAGE!

Since your territory is your own city, your best way to advertise is to let as many people as possible know that you are an Avon agent. they need three thing from you: Your Name, What you Do and where they can find you.
They will only buy what they need unless you create a need for them by giving them your weekly or monthly catalogues!
