Does anyone have pointers in where i could turn for information in starting an online merchant business?

Im trying to start an online merchant business...somthing like an ebay store. Ive been researching products, prices, etc. I have my main product feid (a general item) narrowed down to a few choices, but i still have a long way to go. Does anyone know of any websites that might be able to give me new ideas to work with? Anything that would help me learn how to subcontract with certain companies, or how to establish a base for the business itself would be appreciated.

Its worth mentioning that im not really looking for wholesalers, such as factories from china.
