Im thinking about starting an online business based out of Canada..any advice?

I am looking at the oppertunity to work from home. I am exploring the idea of having an online business. I am not sure about the licencing. Im not sure what I do or where I go for a webpage or how to advertise. If anyone has any ideas..feel free to let me know.

My wife has a bunch of websites that provide valuable information and she get's advertising revenue. I'm impressed with what she makes but it could'nt be our sole income in the San Francisco area where we live. But, it could in other places.
