You can do on-page optimization right from the launching of the site, then continue to work on your content and improving on it. Great content will attract other sites to link to you

But SEO is a continuing process because search engine algorithms change and you need to be constantly on the watch as to what is ok now relative is what was ok a year ago. You may rank #1 today, but a simple algorithm change can knock you out and make you disappear from the search engines.

With organic SEO, you can never say that your hold on the top spot is permanent -- a site can come up with better content with websites linking to it here and there and take the #1 spot away from you.

With SEO, there are two things to watch out for:

- what the search engines are doing
- what your competitors are doing

SEO is not and should not be considered a one-time deal. It is something that you constantly need to work on.

In my opinion, SEO is to be considered on a regular basis and reviewed about twice a year.

Site can be optimized in 6 months depending upon keywords.
