Free ways to advertise online business?

We've recently opened an online business, we help people choose the right supplements (and either tell them which one's and how much, or have them delievered to their door - the choice is theirs), and help people who want to gain weight so they can turn it to muscle, or people that want to loose weight, we make detailed work-out plans they can do at home and help with their diets. We accept payments by money order or paypal, we only charge $5.00 for a consultation fee, which includes the whole work-out plans, dieting advice & guidence on supplements including where you can get them or how much, & if you want them delivered you have to pay the price of the supplement + P&H.
Currently we have a free website host, as we dont know how well we are going to do.
But where and/or how can we advertise our online business so we can get more clients?

I'm assuming you've already thought of trying to raise your website's search engine ranking. There is a whole industry out there, trying to reverse engineer Google's ever-evolving secret search engine algorithms, and other search engines', to do that. It's a huge topic, which you can google to learn more about. Hint - one key is to try to get other popular sites to link to yours.

Probably your best bet otherwise is to try to get print and online journalists to write articles about you. Write a press release that reads almost like an article, so their work is mostly done, and contact (by phone) publications that might be interested in your little business, either local newspapers or magazines or ones that cover your field. It's good to try to think like a journalist, and figure out what is interesting and different (to a reader) about your approach.

If you have a small budget, you might try taking out an ad in Radio & TV Interview Report, rtir.com, the magazine that radio interviewers use to find their on-air guests, and see if you get any nibbles. You might aim this at the just-after-the-holidays period, when a lot of interviewers will be more interested in covering an 'I'm fat, how do I get in shape by spring' story. Have a talking points sheet (suggested interviewer questions and your answers) ready to fax to show producers to make the interviewer seem smart and to steer the questions in ways that make your company sound interesting. If you have an angle - perhaps the founders are former high school or college football or cheer coaches, or you're registered nurses adept at issues facing senior citizens, etc. - be sure to use that.

You might offer referral fees to local professional trainers for any of their clients who sign up using 'referral code xyz,' perhaps dropping off flyers at local gyms and talking to whoever is there, to give them an opportunity to supplement their income and make their clients happier with them by improving their results.

You might also contact local running or other athletic clubs and becoming a small sponsor of their races or other events (not free, but you can't expect too much for absolutely free, do you?)

Have you considered trying to get local health clubs to add your program as a feature or an option in their membership plans?
