I am wanting to start an online business...everyone thinks I am nutz!Anyone out there Ebay for serious income?

I am a Licensed Cosmetologist...I want to run my own business from home. I am interested in maybe an online Beauty Supply. I don't know anyone who has a online business for a profitable income. Anyone out that is willing to mentor? When I say profitable I referring to $600.-$1,000. net pay to start and MORE as I learn the ropes of the ONLINE SMALL BUSINESS INDUSTRY. I am able to obtain Professional Haircare Products 50-75% off the retail price with my license...I appreciate any SERIOUS response/s.

I don't know much about the cosmetics, but my fiancee's old boss was selling stereo stuff on ebay and making around 500-1000 every month.
