I have a lot of personal papers at house of different categories. How should I arrange these papers.?

I am having a lot of papers relating to my personal communication with my employer, my share transactions, mutual funds, my children's certificates and education related papers, medical prescriptions, electricity , water and tax bills, my insurance papers, bills for important purchases, my fathers pension papers, my mothers miscellanious documents, bank pass books and other bank documents, share dividend orders, credit card correspondence and statements,my DP account correspondence and many other miscellaneous papers. I am not able to decide how to arrange them in such a mannar that whenver a particular paper/document or certificate is required I should be able to get it immediately. Alos I require guidance how to keep safe the certificates in a simple way. I donot have much place left empty in house to keep big racks etc.

I have a simple concertina style folder with one compartment for each category. I keep it in a safe but easily accessible place and file documents in alphabetical order for simplicity. It fits into a small draw and I know exactly where all my documents are should I need them.

Any documents that have a monetary value may be safer if lodged with your bank or a solicitor.

you could put them all in seperate folders,plus have all files on each subgate inseperate little drawers and put locks on the important ones and keep them in your bedroom.
