Is there anyone else out there that is angry that the boomers are about to destroy SS and Medicare?

I'm a genX'er and I'm starting to get really angry I have to work harder - my job in the 70's-80's was about 1000 times easier - for less (adj for inflation, astronomical health ins premiums and costs in general, daycare, 401K, which is never calculated when they come out with these studies that say every generation does better - how 'bout you take 15-20% off the top for the 401K that was prev a fat pension) , massive inflation in higher ed...AND I have to pay taxes to fund the retirement of the boomers. AND I'm sick of hearing that they are entitled to it b/c they paid into the system. I'm going on 13 years of paying into that same system with the expectation that I will get 0! The selfishness is just unbelievable. Yeah...we didn't plan for our own retirement - there were 10-15 of us paying in for one retiree and now you're going to pay two to one. How do they not feel responsible for this? They may have paid into the system, but THEY (not me) elected the people that squanderd it!

Take a look at this. George Carlin at his best. He also covers politicians in this clip. He's right about that too!

Watch and learn. And enjoy.

u are beating the wrong horse, but it makes u feel better. Right?
if u didn't vote , u didn't partcipate.
the people u want to scream at are the people who fudge the numbers.
heck u got time to invest in ur own retirement program and come out with more money than SS will ever pay .

My my, you've got it all figured out. Guess what? The generation after yours will say the same thing about YOU as they pay social security taxes to "fund your retirement." As a "GenX'er", you too are responsible for who is elected, not just "THEY." You don't like the system? Then work to improve it instead of just whining.

It's not the baby boomers who are at fault here and the issue is not one of selfishness. They paid into the system, and some don't even get it back. Blame the people who come to this country and the first thing they do is sign up for SS, something they never paid into and consider it an entitlement. And, while we're at it, blame the govt that allows it. Why not go back to the beginning with Roosevelt? He was the first to start spending other people's money. And to those who say that it was necessary during the Depression, let them take a look around today. With the BILLIONS of dollars that are being robbed from workers, there are still those who are homeless. Gee.... I wonder where all that money is going? I do feel for you. It is totally unfair to you, and if the system lasts, it will be even more unfair to the next generation. You can thank the politicians who want to look like heroes. And, just for the record, I did not vote for them. The whole system stinks. Period.

I'm a Gen X'er too and I am not counting on SS or Medicare one bit. Because I don't want to have that sort of lifestyle. If I am dependent on the government to pay my way let me go ahead and load up the gun. My suggestion to you is quit whining, get back to work, save your money, invest your money wisely, and you won't give a rat's a-- about a SS check or medicare cause you'll have more than enough money to take care of yourself. BTW, I am not a Republican.

Hey, I am one of those boomers and I have been paying into Social Security since 1973. So if you have a problem it is not the boomers but our elected officials in Washington DC. We all have been playing by the rules and are entitle to receive our benefits when we are eligible. Please keep working and keep on paying. We all Thank-You, Too.

So, in essence, you've decided that life has given you a raw deal and you blame it on "the boomers."

Here's a flash: people don't change, just the times they live in. Boomers are not to blame for the demise of the corporate pension system; economic globilization is. Your job in the 70s-80s was "1000 times easier"? Come on, now. And how you blame boomers for your daycare expenses is beyond me.

Lets carry your reasoning further: you then have to blame the WW2 generation for having all those babies, then you need to blame FDR for creating the social security system. Where does it end?

You need to get that big chip off your shoulder and get on with your life. If "the system" is so bad, what are you doing to reform it?

Your complaints are not new to anyone including to the boomers. The boomers also saw everything except they did something about it instead of complaining and blaming others. Inflation is not new, healthcare and daycare are not new, the boomers invented the 401k to help with their retirement, they paid more for higher ed etc etc. These things are a fact of adulthood and the boomers did not create these problems for you. They lived it also.
One thing the boomers did not see is requiring easy jobs for high pay. They knew these did not go hand in hand. They worked hard for a good life and probably worked a little too hard to give their kids an easier life than they had, because now their kids are complaining and wanting everything handed to them without working for it. Their kids problems were taken care of for them so much that now they don't have any responsibility. The boomers have been the most giving generation there ever has been and ever will be.
How do you think the boomers feel if they have paid into SS for 50 years and aren't supposed to receive any of it?
Pensions were never "fat". The boomers saw that SS wasn't going to be the most important retirement income so they invented the 401k to help themselves at retirement. They stuffed 10-15% of their income into that so you doing the same is not new. The boomers are also the generation who lost their pension by working for crooked people.
You've been voting for about 30 years so your generation is just as much to blame as the boomers for elected officials. Voting isn't restricted to 50 years of age.
I am probably the age right in the middle of these generations. So what I see is anger in the wrong place and pushing blame onto other people for having to grow up and take care of yourself. They worked hard, I work hard, and you have to work hard. That's just life.
