How do i get a job in Venture Capital?

I am looking to break into Venture Capital and work for a VC/Private Equity shop. I have been working in a Corporate Accounting/Auditing postion for 3 years.

I can think of 3 ways...

1. If your background is in accounting, you may need more education in Finance. A CFA or Chartered Financial Analyst certification will help. Or an MBA as well.

2. Networking, networking, networking. Easy to say, hard to do. But understand this, most of these firms get tons of resumes each day, you need to know people to get in.

3. Bring them an investment idea. Perhaps you know a private company in your town with great potential and looking for money to expand. That's what VC does. Show them you can help them find new businesses to invest in.

There are actually meetings every month where investors get together to view proposals by individuals to give venture capital. I can't remember what the meeting is called.
