Career change from Admin to Private equity! Plz advice on strategy for transition.?

I am presently working in admin dept of an automobile mfg. co. I am a management graduate in marketing and have prior experience in retail. I am not enjoying my role as challanges are none and I have my days predicted.
I wish to make transition from my present job to Private equity and think that I have caliber to be successful in this field.
Kindly advice what strategy i should adopt to pursue this change a success!
