How do I get them to raise my line of credit??

I just paid off my 2 credit cards after keeping them at nearly their max for about a year. They are only a couple hundred dollars each. (One is Chase, one is Capital One.)

I've been reading up on how to raise my credit score and realized that I need to raise my available credit in order to offset my car loan. Is that correct?

In any case, between my car loan and my personal loan I owe $21,833.93

I have $800 worth of credit on my credit cards and $2200 available on a line of credit.

My credit score is 673. Is it going to go up, or does that reflect the paid-off credit cards?

Also, I'm 19 years old.

Its as simple as calling the credit card companies and asking for a credit limit increase. However a Car loan is a installment account and a credit card is a revolving account. Usually increasing the available limit on your credit cards will not have anything to do with your auto loan. However having a higher amount of credit availablw to you shows creditors that you are a responsible consumer. At your age I would be carefull of getting to much available credit because you will find it easier to use it. You have good credit for your age and if you continue to pay your bills on time you will have no issues with your credit.

I once kept my capital one at max balance and after i paid it off, it took about 4 years before they raised my limit on that one from 500 to 2000. I had a providian card though that went up much quicker. About every 6 months they raise it and i can spend about 12,000 on that one. You will most likely have to wait a while before they raise your limit.

Call them up and ask for credit increase, if they say no, tell them you want to cancel the card because of it. Usually they will offer you SOMETHING. Or I have called up and told them I just got a GREAT offer ( lie ) on a balance transfer and if I do not get a credit limit increase, I will take the better offer. Well, they only gave me 100 dollars more, which worked for me since I was bluffing anyway. Good luck, if they want to play hardball, then so should you!!

I called them and asked them. It worked.
