Is there a way to write off income reported with a 1099-INT?

I was doing my 2007 tax return and found that I didn't qualify for Earned Income Credit because I received more than $2900 in Investment Income. I am well below the earned income limit. Is there any way to write off the investment income so I can receive EIC?

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to change the investment income for 2007.

Regardless of what you do (IRA contribution as one answer suggests), you still will have investment income greater than $2,900 from Lines 8a, 8b, 9a, and 13.

Maybe.
Put your investments into an IRA, then the interest earned isn't taxable until you retire. An then you won't have the problem of your investment income disqualifying you. Can make contributions up until 4/15 for 2007.
