HI. Who knows somebody who wants to invest in Republic of Moldova?

The fact of being neiborhood of EU, is making Moldova atrctive from investment point of view. Placement of the production, investments in Real Estate could have a great return in some years. Do you think so?

I think you're a little more optimistic than me.

Over the last 10 years it has been possible to make a lot of money from countries that are about to join the EU. However the EU has just about reached its limit for expansion in the medium term. Moldova would probably join eventually.....but not for 20 years plus.

So we're left with a small Eastern European country with nothing special going for it. It may be possible to make money if you chose correctly, but it is a relatively risky option and for my money the potential rewards don't match the potential risks.

If you want to invest in Eastern Europe chose some mutual funds. They spread the risk by investing in more than one country. If the story changes and Moldova elects a strongly capitalist government or agrees a timetable for EU accession it might be worth having a second look. Until then your money would be a dead investment.
