I need 9% return on my investments what shoud I do $5000 today, $15000 five yrs from now or $1000 a yr 15 yrs?

Where would I make the most money taking $5000 today, or a lump sum payout of $15,000 5 years from now or $1000 per year for 15 years.

From the 3 plans you listed over 15 years ...

15K invested 5 years from now give the highest end value
1K per year for 15 years has a slightly lower return.
5K invested now has the lowest return, but you only invested 1/3 the amount of the other 2 plans in it.

This assumes they'd be invested identically and does not attempt to adjust for inflation, which considering the way the dollar is going 9% APR may be losing money in 15 years.

Your question is a bit hard to understand or follow. Getting 9% on your money is a separate question from the timing of investing the money. Take whatever money you have available for investing (for 4 years or longer), do your homework and select 2-3 good high performance mutual funds, and start investing.

If you have $5000 today, starting investing $1,000 per month as the market is rather volatile right now. If the market drops down a lot, that's the time to invest more money. Be sure to include a healthy mix of international stocks in your funds. If you only have $1,000 to start then invest that. If you wait 5 years to invest, you can only earn 3-4% in banks. Good mutual funds are probably the best way to invest with good diversification which helps reduce your overall risk. Stay the course for at least 5-10 years and your earnings should be to your liking.
