How do you calculate the return on an investment of $6000 @ 6% paid monthly for 5 years?

i use an HP 10bII

I use an HP 12C, but the keys should generally be the same. Enter n=5, i=6, PV= -6,000 (amt. invested is negative), pmt=0, and then push FV (future value) for your solution: $8,029.35.

If you want to compound monthly, enter n=60, i= 0.5, PV = -6,000, pmt=0, and then FV should equal $8,093.10 . Hope that helps.

Go to bankrate.com or quicken.com and use one of their free financial calculators to get your answer

I'm a little confused, so I may be answering the wrong question, but I plugged it into the finance section of my graphing calculator and it says that the payment will be $371.25 a month. Is that what you were looking for?

The 6% isn't paid monthly. That's the Annual Percentage Yield, and it compounded monthly.
