Any suggestions where can a 21 yr old college grad get a small personal loan to get an apartment in NYC?

Try to avoid quick cash loans. What you could do is go down to your bank and find out if you can be granted a line of credit, in the amount you need or close to it. All they should need is verification of income, and since you have a job, it shouldn't be a problem. If the amount is not huge, they will grant you the line of credit, which is like a permission to overdraw up to the amount agreed upon. This will have a lower rate than most small personal loans would, and works similarly to a credit card in that you can make minimum payments until it's paid off, or just cover it entirely with your next paycheck.

If you have a job and don't have terrible credit, you shouldn't have a problem getting a small loan. I don't know what they have in NYC but down here we have Wells Fargo, Citifinancial, and several independently-owned loan companies. You may be more likely to get a loan if the company is independently-owned, meaning someone has used their own money to start a loan business, not a franchise like Wells Fargo and or a bank. Look into housing across the river in NJ. If you have to get a loan to front the deposit, you won't ever make the rent. Plus, the landlord will check your credit. And see that you don't make enough $$ to cover it.

21 in NYC, you are almost definitely going to need to live with roommates unless maybe you are a wallstreet trader. Use craigslist, you can probably find a shared housing situation with a low deposit, there are all kinds of odd housing arrangements in the city
