I have set up a discretionary trust to avoid IHT. Since the recent Gov statement can I now cancel? |
It would appear that since the threshold has been increased such avoidance is no longer necessary. The procedure involved altering my late wife's will, making investment that is not paricularly good becuase of stock market problems and having to ask permission to live in what I had regarded as my own house. What now? Can we cancel the whole business and get back to sanity? Sadly, the answer is NO. its not all finalised yet so hang on for now. i agree with ben. it was all spat out in a rush; treasury officials heard it the same day you did; the details are unknown; it might be nonsense. |
