What can you suggest to a young man who would like to make some investments -a little extra cash via stocks? |
I really do not understand much about stocks and investing but I feel I should try but just don't know how? any help much appreciated! You can open an online account with Etrade, Schwab, ameritrade, or Scott trade, and then send in the money. I would suggest to NOT DO IT. Buy an index fund or mutual fund that has a low expense ratio. These funds are made up of lots of different stocks, so you will be well diversified. I suggest reading "The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need" by Andrew Tobias. It's the best book to get you started on investing. You're best off with a no-load mutual fund, which he describes and explains in easy-to-understand language. (He also wrote "The Only OTHER Investment Guide You'll Ever Need" which is a great sequel.) |
