Are stock commisions a deductable expense for tax purposes? i,e, investment expense.? It's automatically deductible and doesn't really need to be separately itemized. It just increases your cost basis effectively by lowering your total profit. You could add commission to the cost. There is no need to separately explain it. Let's say if you buy a stock at $10, sell it at $12 and paid $1.5 for buying and selling commission combined, your cost is $11.5 and your profit is $0.5. |
