Is it a good idea to buy stock in Intel now for a 1 year investment?

Hello, I'm thinking of buying some Intel stock and then selling in one year? Is the market favorable?

Intel is a solid company and a good investment. Whether the stock will show substantial gains in a one year time frame is anybody's guess. They have a large chip inventory which is just sitting there, and demand for PCs is low and forecasted to stay that way for the next several months. Valueline, one of the leading stock analysts, doesn't expect any substantial rise until 2 years or more.

Personally, I think Intel's stock has hit bottom. I just doubled my holdings when the stock hit $17 a share. But then, I'm a long term investor. I don't put money in stocks unless I don't need the money for at least 5 years. For a short term gain, you might look at some energy stocks.

The question is whether today's low is the bottom, or will it still bottom out for Intel? I bought it a year ago and lost. I tried to wait for a year, but the stock kept on dropping.

The entire industry is having difficulty. Unless of course the production plants in Vietnam and other countries that Intel is building and will be in operation later this year could help turn around the company's stock price.

Of course, stock investments have risks. It's hard to predict whether it is going up or down. Me, am staying away from that sector -- and that company.
