Difference between stock investment & fixed investment??

with one example of each.....

Stocks are part ownership of a company. They are more for growth in a portfolio.
fixed income investment- government bonds, municipals, corporate or commercial paper- for stability, predictable income, and protection of capital. Bonds are not so much for growth as for income.

Stock = is a share in a company with no guarantee, such as buying $1,000 in shares of APPLE and it either gaining or losing value
Fixed = like a government Bond or bill is for the most part a loan you give the government(or whatever) that they agree to pay back with interest at a later date. This is a simplified answer, there is more to bonds and still risk involved. But with govt. bonds they are reliable enough to call them no risk compared to securities. there are other fixed investments as well.
