Does anyone know what an investment Trust warrant is and how it works?

An investment trust warrant gives you the right to purchase shares in the investment trust within a certain amount of time. It's kinda like an option but usually has a longer time element. They usually cost less than the shares themselves so people buy them to get control of more shares than if they owned the shares outright.
