A web site w/ 0% porn is coming up as a porn in many web filters. How can this be avoided?

A friend of mine is starting an e-commerce web site and has received over $1M in VC funding. The domain name and website content have NO pornographic references (text, images etc... ) whatsoever. Many business grade porn filters are identifying this site as a false positive as porn site. One suggestion to alleviate this issue is to call up each and every company that makes porn filtering technology and request to "white list" this site. Are there any CENTRALLY located public or private "white lists" to register this site as non-porn? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

It might not be possible. I have a netgear modem to filter out porn from my home, and it blocks certain keywords I put in.

The porn wackos are using more and more common words to get around it, so the keywords keep getting more and more general.

Dark proxies are popping up to get around the porn filters also.

It is a sad thing.

The rating systems, I would contact the major ones like Symantec.

Half of the Internet consists of either porn or casinos so I guess you are out of luck there. Since they 'rule' the world wide web I guess your friend will have to get the site developed and let the web spiders get to the information he provided to move the porn thing down!

Was the site previously owned by someone? Cant see how they got it submitted without the server detail?

If your friend has $1 million in funding to spend and this is a concern, hire a tech to fix it.
