Hey, where are all these 'great' jobs at people!?

i'm a college senior. i've worked my way through almost four years of college because everybody said it'd be a great investment. well, here i am, six months away from graduation and there are no jobs. the jobs in the newspapers want several years experience. well, gee. how am i supposed to get 5 years experience if i've never had a job? the closer i get to graduation, the more it looks like i've been sold the farm. i guess i blame myself for being so stupid to believe the 'wisdom' of my family and others on the value of education. what was it all for? if i had to do it all over again i would have dropped out at the 10th grade. man, what a waste..

Dude, you missed out. College was the greatest time of my life. Why are you complaining? Anyway, there are plenty of jobs out there. You need to be patient. Monster.com is a good place to check out. Plenty of jobs out there. And remember, you can always get a job and quit and get another.

How about Enterprise Rent-a-Car. They only hire college grads.

Take it easy. The jobs will come, and will be far higher paying than a high school grad, or worse, a high school dropout.

Find a staffing firm that finds jobsfor people with your field of expertise. They'll get you started.

You didn't say what your major was or what your degree will be in. That would help us steer you in the right direction. Keep in mind that even with a college degree you will still probably have to take an entry level position in your chosen field. But that degree will make the climb up the ladder easier, faster, and more possible. The degree WILL pay off in the long run. Just don't give up. Good luck.

If you took a "profession" instead of a "course", then you have been required to take an internship with a going concern business. This is your first window of opportunity. The employer uses this window to case you out. If you pass their scrutiny, then chances are good you'd be offered a job right after graduation.

If you are one of those who took fun degrees like history, or basket weaving, then you'll to work harder. A lot of jobs are outsourced overseas. You would have to work harder to get a job nowadays. Do some networking, check internet like JobsUSA, talk with campus recruiters.
