I have a realestate math question. please help! my co owner is $53,000 more invested in the home than i am .?

She has agreed to sell me the home for 1/2 the appraisal value. The house is appraised at $230,000 and we still owe $49,216 on it. I intend to pay off the $49,216 making our investment in the home even within less than $4000. So, how much do I owe my co-owner when buying the house from her?

you owe her $115,000, half the appraised value, after you pony up the balance of the mortgage. Or you could just pay her the $115k and take over the mortgage (refinance it in your name only), which does the same thing.

In this real estate market, make sure that the appraisal is a good one, market values are slumping, and you may be overpaying. You should get 3 appraisals and pick the middle one.
