Is TurboTax worth it?

I've heard a lot about TurboTax, but with the price of the software, is it really a good investment? There are different levels of membership as well--which is the best value for your tax needs? Any info would really help!

If you do (or have done) your own taxes on paper, Turbo tax is GREAT. Buy the deluxe version and your particular state version. I do not have an overly complicated tax return, but ALL the proper forms are available, and it remembers your info from year to year on your computer ie SS and kids names and BD's. Well worth the money. On top of that they help you file electronically and have it direct deposited. The only down side is that I always think it was too easy and that I forgot something.... Benn a user for at least 5 years and really like it.

I say no. If you have really complicated income, go to a CPA. If not, just go to H&R Block website and its easy as pie for little charge.

It is very good. There are different levels of the program, and it is easy to use. I recommend it.

I have used it for the past two years. I did not buy any software, just did it on line. I was very pleased with it. It walked me through each step and asked me about things I might be able to deduct that I never would have considered.

I use HR Block's basic online package. I have heard good things about TurboTax. Unless you are going to need the extras, I wouldn't recommend purchasing anything but the basic package. Most of the extras aren't utilized since the program is so easy to use. If you are going to be completing an EZ form or make less than 52,000 you may want to consider seeing if you qualify for the FREE tax service that the government offers at

Why throw away 100-300 dollars to have someone prepare it the same way you would online unless you have a lot of complicated deductions, etc.

It most certainly is worth it...It found things my bookkeeper and CPA missed and saved me several thousand dollars. You just have to be honest with your entries.

I use it...I just buy the basic product because my state doesn't have an income tax and it serves my purpose. I've got all the typical deductions and nothing outrageous. I simply use it to prevent stupid math mistakes. Don't forget, the cost of the software is deductible (if you're itemizing).

Best thing about it is...If I need a copy of my return, I have it in 5 minutes. No need to rely on anyone else. Look on here and you'll see multiple questions frm people on how to get a copy of their returns.

If you can file the 1040EZ, then don't get it. Also, if you make under $50K, there are some places that let you do it online for free.

Absolutely! I have used it for the last three years and highly recommend it. I use the deluxe edition with the state forms, as well. The program asks leading questions and takes you through the entire process. You just answer the questions and fill in the numbers.

I definetly recommend it. I have used this product for many years now. I have never had a problem with it. Its very simple to use. We use the deluxe version because you get a free state download with it. If you dont have to file state then use the basic version. I personally think its alot cheaper than going to H&R Block or somewhere else.
