Are Townhomes a good investment in Orlando, FL?

I am looking at purchasing a single-family house in Orlando, FL, but I was wondering if purchasing a townhome at a lower price would be a good investment. I know the re-sale value of ANYTHING right now is not great, but in the long run, would a townhome investment be a good one? How well do they appreciate?

Town homes tend to lose value quickly if they are affordable by low income people. Well, that is true of detached homes too. Perhaps the thing that drives the price down worst is having a lot of units rented.

But if you happen to need to live in some property that low income people can afford, that is what you need. Just make sure that the home is not in an economically depressed area, or make sure the price of the unit reflects this fact.
