Vanguard Long Term NY Muni Fund?

This fund has an average maturity of 9.1 years and average duration of 6.4 years. Isn't this more like an intermediate fund?

Is it best to stick with short term funds?

Its depends on when you need the money and where its being held IE IRA, taxable account. Of the bond funds I like the ultra low tax funds, if this is long term retirement money I still like stocks.

The best way to invest in bonds is to "ladder" them meaning some short-term, some medium term, and some long term.

If the fund has an average maturity of 9.1 years, they must have some that mature before and after 9.1 years.
