Do you think it's best to start a company with Venture Capital or Business Loan?

Is it best to start a business with venture capital which can include mentors from experienced execs or secure a bank loan. What about those who can't get a bank loan?

Venture capital can cost upwards of 30% APR, AND a ownership position in your business....

For those who cant get a bank loan, go thru the SBA and do an SBA 7-a Low Doc loan

I suspect that if you can't get a bank loan it would be pretty difficult to attract a venture capital.

Mentors are really worth while and I would strongly recommend getting a mentor whatever you do. But a venture capitalist may actually want to control your board. And remember that venture capitalists make their money by selling their share at a profit. You will probably end up losing your business.

In the end it will depend on the size of business you intend starting and hat you want to do with it.
