I'm not well off. How do I become an entrepreneur?

I'm 25yrs of age ,I'm a Metallurgical Engineer + MBA ( Mktg), working for an Indian Steel Co. as Asst Manager ( Mktg).

Indian economy is taking a high-speed path.
This is the right time for any business to start. The economy is bullish, particularly in India. Though I come from a manufacturing background, I have in my mind to start business viz., packaged food, marketing research in a small way. ( any one of them)

I understand there are many venture capitalists available. But I would like to make sure that, I quite my job only after ensuring that the idea is feasible.
I have always dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur. I'm in a delicate situation, to start any business, as I'm the sole bread earner of my family. Has anyone faced such situation? Can someone guide me?

Ideally you should look for a gap in the market and try to fill it, no matter how small. I had a friend who wanted to start a shop and he spent a day asking passers by what they thought the street lacked. He collated their answers and found that overwhelmingly they required a shop selling china and tableware. He set up a successful business.
Might be an idea to do similar, not so much at the retail point but with other manufacturers at point of production. Either call in person or make a call. It's a lot of foot work but it might pay off in the end.
It's possible the answer might be quite a small insignificant area of the market, which the big companies can't be bothered with. If that's the case, that's your market to corner.

being MBA you must be knowing the importance of capital... arrange for capital and fulfil your dreams...
until then work hard...

get loan from bank start business .confidence is very important.

u can start at small scale with small capital and expand with a portion of profit earned. u can also borrow within safe limit.

The first thing to do is thoroughly research the industries you're interested in. Do you know a better, faster, or cheaper way to do business that will set you apart from your competitors?

Once you know exactly what you want to do, then write a detailed business plan. I found a pretty good article about preparing for a business loan. Even if you choose to find an investor, they'll want to see a good professional business plan.

I think you are starting in the right place, which is asking yourself if this venture is right for you. It could be the most important decision of your life and unfortunately, your individual interests aren't the only thing at stake. I think you should read this article (it's not a "get rich quick" article or anything...):

And hopefully, it will help you do a little soul searching. Once you've decided you'll be more prepared to tackle the bigger challenges you may face.

Best of luck!

I am a passout of IITB and was also in the same situation, though not as tough as yours, actually with no family commitments. But I didn't want to risk my job, without having the security of earning enough in a business. At this time I got in touch with some very successful entrepreneurs around the world in E-commerce industry and have set up my own business with their mentorship.

We are working in the Marketing and Logistics Industry with major manufacturers and service providers around the world using a unique revenue generation model on the web.
