I have a big project that I need about $50,000 start up money for. Any ideas, besides loans?

I have thought about applying for a government grant in the sector of economic development, but that takes forever. I have also talked to some business partners about venture capitalists. I just don't like the idea of someone else owning more of the company than I do. Hopefully someone can help me get this off of the ground. Thanks.

Sell some of your other assets, property, cars.

Get a partner that will own 49% of the total project/company just to finance the whole setup.

Why would you think that venture capital would require you to give up control of your company. Do some REAL research with REAL venture capital companies. Sounds like you listened to somebody who has no clue. If your idea has merit and you have a good plan as well as some experience and some of your own cash you might be able to find something. But frankly, don't think 50,000 - better to work on 500,000 or even more.

Kill a relative, get their inheritance.

Hold a fundraiser. You can do things like:

Hamburger supper
Pizza Party
Dinner party
Bake sale

or sell products like they do in school fundraisers. You can get a catalog from www.easy-fundraising-ideas.com. Of course all of these ideas will take time to net $50,000.
