If I have a computer game idea to pitch, who do I talk to?

For a while I've been putting together a prospectus of sorts for a new MMOG. I'm interested in showing it to venture capitalists, if there's any out there interested in this sort of thing.

What's the route I should take: venture capitalists or going directly (networking) to the top management of already existing video game companies?

first get the idea Patented, then talk to a gaming company, letter, e-mail something. paten it so they can't steal your idea and reap benefits from it.
